National gas prices fall below $5 per gallon. Yay?

House passes bill targeting alleged price gouging amid high gas prices

The House has voted 217-207 to pass a bill that gives the Federal Trade Commission the authority to investigate energy companies for alleged price gouging as prices at gas pumps nationwide hit record highs.

According to GasBuddy, the average gas price in Indiana is $5.01. The national average now sits even lower at $4.88 per gallon.

Prices are still much higher than normal.

Just one year ago, a gallon of gas cost $3.11 per gallon. That's almost 2-dollars cheaper than current prices.

In 2020 it was even lower at $2.16 per gallon.
