vigo county's "give-a-book" program seems to be giving more than just a good read... it's creating results in the classroom. at 5 o'clock -- we explained students receive a book.. featuring themselves! now... we're talking about how it's helping kids. with the help of this program... leaders say they're seeing progress in their kindergartners. just last grading period... some students at "hoosier prairie elementary" saw a nearly 300 point jump in their reading levels. "we want them to love to read for leisure, not just for school. that's what this room is all about is bringing books that they enjoy, not just for those src points but because they enjoy it." hoosier prairie says it tries to promote reading all year round... the school hosts library hours during the summer for students... plus book fairs throughout the
