a most unusual auction is sending bidders to their graves. a wabash valley cemetery is auctioning off a plot of land for you to spend the afterlife... but why? good evening and thank you for joining us for news 10 on my fox 10. a sullivan, indiana cemetery needs some new life. the folks caring for the property -- and it's inhabitants -- say they need money for repairs. news 10's richard solomon was there for a "strange" fundraiser. he has continuing coverage for you tonight. < some people are calling this "indiana's most unusual auction"...that might be true. their not bidding on cars... antiques... or collectables... this auction is about planning for the future. the center ridge cemetery is almost *150* years old! and it's starting to look like it. it's like the grim reaper is closing in on this sullivan landmark. "we have a unique cemetery out there and we can't neglect it" the drain under the arch is collapsing... and look at these roads. both projects would be costly for the city. dick crooks is the superintendent of the cemetery. he wants to restore what's falling apart. "if you don't take care of your cemeteries what will you take care of? we are a cemerety and what do cemeteries have to offer? facilities for the deceased " that's what brings us here... nats: auction this is an auction, fundraiser, and luncheon to raise money for the needed repairs. people could bid on paintings or even a complete funeral! it got the attention of people in sullivan. "it's very important to everyone in the community. it's not just one family." beth myers is a volunteer who helped crooks with this idea. she wants to make sure her community looks beautiful for future generations. "it's not always about death, it's about love there and we want to honor our past relatives." the community helped raise 18-thousand dollars. if you would like to donate head to our website w-t-h-i-t-v dot com back to you.> police are investigating
