severe weather preparedness week continues. and storm team 10 has you covered. today brady harp explores the dangers of flash flooding. < flash flooding is one of the most dangerous types of severe weather and it doesn't just happen near rivers or streams. it can happen almost anywhere. national weather service meteorologist jason puma says flash flooding may not be the flashiest type of severe weather - but it is the most dangerous. jason puma: "flooding occurs quite a bit. flooding believe or not is our number one killer in the united states. kills more people than tornadoes kills more people than lightning." flash flooding is rapid flooding caused often by slow moving thunderstorms. many know flooding impacts low-lying areas but just because you aren't near a low area - that doesn't mean you are safe. property restoration expert chad overton says a lot of water damage isn't even river related. chad overton: "most of the things don't happen at the river. most of the things you hear about you hear about near rivers are national disasters. like beaches or a river like we just stated." when flash flooding starts and waters rise over roads. never - ever - try to drive through high water. just a small amount of moving water can carry away heavy vehicles. puma: "if you see a road blocked off do not drive around those baricades. not only are you putting yourself in danger you're putting whoever's in your vehicle in danger you're also probably putting our first responders in danger when they come and try to rescue you." remember if flash flooding happens in your area never try to drive through high waters. in terre haute brady harp storm team 10.> now to the weather department... what are we looking at for tonight... and the rest of the week here's a look at numbers as we go to break.. you're watching news 10 on my fox 10... tonight mostly cloudy during
