New data shows Vigo County is one of the worst counties when it comes to health. News 10 sat down with a local mother who turned to exercise when her life felt out of control.

some people some people are looking to change their lifestyle for the better.. yesterday-- we told you about a study ranking counties in indiana for their health... you're seeing a map of that data here... its based on obesity and smoking... among other factors. out of 92 counties in indiana, vigo county ranked 83rd.. at 5 o'clock---we introduced you to jessica johnson. she said johnson. to jessica johnson. she said she's battled to get her health back. in tonights health alert... news 10s jordan kudisch shares her journey.. in hopes it'll help others make a change. < jessica johnson struggled with her health for many years. because of work..and being a full-time mother her health was not her priority. "i'm a single mom with not much time, not much money. " johnson says she felt like she was losing control over her own life. and thats' when she decided to make a change. "so the only option i had was to get out and run./// it helped just clear my mind and helped me mentally which then has had positive affects ripple affects with my family." she started her fitness journey three years ago. she says the choice was for herself and for her children. "i had to get to a mindset myself where i was finally ready to committ to working on it and making a change." registered dietitian, sarah james says that's where it starts. "there's no other solution other than you have to change. if you're doing nothing and then you add 25% then that's 25% more then you were doing the last time." james says people have to be accountable for their own actions. "i'm not gonna make excuses, i have ten minutes here so i'm going to get out and do something." johnson says for there to be change...its up to the person to make that happen.
