water to recede. it was a heated night.. that resulted in a resignation. news 10 has been following financial issues in the town of odon. we told you, the clerk treasurer was in hot water after owing the state thousands for late payments. tonight things came to a head. news 10's gary brian explains what happened. <"it was a packed house tonight at the odon town hall. many residents showed up to tonight's board meeting looking for answers." monday's odon town board meeting had a general topic of discussion. where does the town go from here? "that way we can keep track of where we are at on getting everything reconciled and where we are at on a dollar amount." the town had many issues on it's recent audit from the state board of accounts. one of those issues centered around the software that makes sure accounts match up. board member doug benjamin proposed bringing in an outside consultant to make sure current numbers line up. "they will also assist in entering the numbers and setting up the new software." the town would pay for the consultant's time. that led to some discussion from those in attendance. "'how is this in line with the corrective action, if we don't have the corrective action yet' it's not in line with it, it's something we're wanting to do." the board approved the action with two votes yes and one member abstaining. "it's a questions of correcting the issues that's hanging over our head right now. we want to correct the issues. we want the answers. on what our balances are, where the money is at so that we can move on." however the town will move on with one less employee. "it's been a pleasure to serve the people of odon. but i am turning in my resignation letter today." deputy clerk amanda fuqua resigned during public comment. in a statement to the board fuqua cited recent audit results and disagrements with the clerk for her leaving.
