"water damage".. triggered "structural issues to the beams" that hold-up that building. news 10's bureau chief "gary brian".. joins us now.. "live".. from the animal shelter. he explains.. "what's next"! //////// an initial estimate to fix the damage at the vincennes animal shelter has come back. while repairs can be made...those repairs may come with a six figure price tag. ////// <laura bogard has been a volunteer at the vincennes animal shelter for six years. "when i started volunteering, i would come down to the shelter with my daughter and it just seemed like there were a lot of things needed in the shelter." those needs have now increased thanks to significant water damage. three contractors evaluated what's needed to fix those problems. the first quote came in.. with a hefty price tag. "we're looking probably in the neighborhood of a hundred thousand dollars to repair everything that we need to repair. which is a huge undertaking for us to come up with." water damage has impacted about a third of the facility. this has happened where dog kennels are cleaned daily. many two by fours were worn almost completely down. "this is an important and immediate need that we need to get under way with taking care of." during monday night's state of the city.. mayor joe yochum pledged.. the city will help. "that is a big project that we have to get completed this spring." vantlin says donations will be vital. "the city is going to be doing everything they can do to help us also. but we need to do a lot of fundraising so that we can get this project underway." a donation page for the shelter was set up in january. at this point.. only two hundred dollars has been raised.
