waiting on the start of the high school baseball season in indiana.. even with the sunshine.. field conditions remain difficult.. but the linton miners are planning to start their year tomorrow.. they've built a culture of success down in linton.. back-to-back sectional titles for the miners and a 22-9 record last season.. this year.. there's a lot of young talent.. the miners have two players committed to i- u.. sophomore kip fougerousse and freshman josh pine.. linton has several holes to fill from last year.. with just three seniors on the team.. coach matt fougerousse says his eyes are on the vets. they have to be leaders. they have to step up because they have experience coming back. i tell the kids all the time that it's a long season, but it's really not. you have eight weeks to play 28 games. before you know it, blink of the eye, it's the end of may and sectionals are here. so some of these guys are going to have to grow up in a hurry. and that senior leadership could be huge. the miners are scheduled to play in the morning.. linton hosts castle at 11 a.m. that's it for sports. we're going to take a quick timeout. news
