for women's issues. new at 10 tonight .. local activists gathered on the indiana state university campus. news 10's heather good was there. she joins us now with more. participants were encouraged to use the hashtag "why i march". it helped highlight several issues... but two at the forefront remain sexual harassment and equal pay. covered: "i march to let my voice be heard." on international women's day... people are drawing attention to issues impacting women ... by writing why they march on poster board. covered: "i march for any woman who's been a victim of sexual assault." "i march for any woman who kind of can't march." this event on the indiana state university campus is sponsored by "activist study hall". the plan was to gather outside... but the weather drove people in. it did not -- however -- keep people from discussing problems. "we are in the metoo era of course so the issue of sexual assault in the workplace and at home is the perennial issue for feminists anywhere." those at the event also talked about equal pay. "women's issues are human issues and if we just avoid them, we're avoiding half the populations' issues. that's not right." some activists say... progress has been made slowly... over time... and more people are learning about issues impacting women all over the world. "i think there's been an advancement of visibility for women and their issues in the workplace. whether of not it's actually getting the goods and accomplishing the ends that women are looking for has yet to be seen." those at tonight's rally encourage others to contact their elected officials... write letters to the editor... and of course vote... to ensure important issues are addressed. back to you.
