minds with this cold weather. but for many -- it was part of their agenda today that's because they were freezin' for a reason. news 10's garrett brown shows us how and why. the weather saturday morning was around thirty degrees and snow flurries. for many this is enough to stay inside for the day. but for those wishing to help those with special needs they decided to make a icy jump to do so. at first glance it looks like the setting of a regular fundraiser. but all these participants were just preparing themselves for what was to come. "ah nervous, excited and just ready to get it going." "great organization, great thing to raise money for. it's a pleasure for us to get out here and do this for everybody." thats because they were taking part in the 10th annual polar plunge at indiana state university. over 200 participants from all over the valley came out for the cause. including this group from the industrial supply company who dressed up for the occasion. "we've been here the past 3 years so we'll continue to do it. its just a great thing to raise money for and keep trying to win that costume contest." one by one isu students, law enforcement and members of the community jumped into this pool for a good cause. all the funds raised going towards the indiana special olympics. each group doing what they can to help reach the events fifty thousand dollar goal. "the polar plunges are the single largest vehicle for fundraising for special olympics indiana and most people think special olympics in terms of the competition but its actually 12 months of training." its an event that seems a bit odd to some. but it carries a stronger message. showing everyday people coming together to support those with disabilities. "doing this, the price that we pay to get out there and get cold is nothing that compares to what they go through on a day to day basis. so for us to endure something like this is minuscule compared to what they have to do." since these events began almost nineteen years ago over four million dollars has been raised for special olympics indiana. this years summer special olympics will take place in terre haute june 8th through the
