VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A West Terre Haute man is behind bars again for having a firearm while considered a serious violent felon.

Police were searching for Vernon Eversole for questioning in connection to the murder that took place on North 18th Street in Terre Haute last Friday.

When police found Eversole, they also found a handgun.

As reported earlier, Ashley Johnson has already been arrested in connection to this case. However, according to court documents, Johnson told police that Eversole is the one who shot the victim.

Authorities say 34-year-old David Carroll died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Eversole is in the Vigo County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon on a $250,000 bond.
