TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Saturday was a beautiful day to do some spring cleaning.

That's why many volunteers chose to clean up Darwin Road in West Terre Haute.

Over thirty volunteers came out to show their support.

Community members, city council members, and police officers pitched in to help.

One volunteer says it's a highly traveled road that needed some cleaning.

"There's about fourteen hundred to fifteen hundred cars that travel Darwin Road every day, and we wanted to clean it up to make sure those getting to Saint Mary's or ISU and stuff. This is kind of a short cut to make sure that our community's clean and we take pride in what we do," said Chris Switzer, Terre Haute resident.

Switzer says he hopes to see many more projects like this in the community.
