TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A local pastor was arrested for taking videos of men inside a locker room.
That's according to police.
His name is David Nathaniel Powell.
He is facing one felony count of voyeurism.
After an online search, News 10 learned Powell is the Pastor at Grace Temple Church on Maple Avenue in Terre Haute.
Back on February 19th, an employee at Planet Fitness in Terre Haute filed a police report alleging Powell went in and out of the locker room several times during his shift.
At one point, the employee went to use the restroom and noticed Powell recording him from above the stall.
The employee said he was able to take the phone from Powell.
In doing so, he said Powell had other items of pornography on the phone.
Powell reportedly apologized to the employee and was told to never return to the gym.
News 10 stopped by Grace Temple and Powell's home.
Nobody answered at either location.
We stopped by Planet Fitness for reaction.
"Whether it happened in the men's locker room...women's locker room...it really doesn't matter. It's the wrong thing. It should never happen. Anything that should happen in the locker room should be kept private. It should never be filmed by the facility or any person or individual," Planet Fitness member Scott England said.
"It's crazy because you know, you're taking away people's confidence, you're taking away people's ability to be able to feel safe in a public place and that's not okay," Amber McKee told us.
Members we spoke with said they still feel safe at Planet Fitness because the staff at the facility handled the situation correctly.
Online court records show Powell has been released on his own recognizance.
A jury trial is set for August 22nd.
