VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Some people from Vigo County are voicing frustration with the process for a new jail.
A member of Citizens for Better Government gave county commissioners a list of questions last week.
On Tuesday, the commissioners gave written answers to those questions.
Those questions deal with the process and planning for a new facility.
Some people felt there's not been transparent communication from the commissioners.
They just want to make sure the county is making the best decisions.
"We are moving forward. I'm not suggesting we don't need a new facility. The current jail is in horrific shape," Andres Kummerow, from Citizens for Better Government said.
"We're hoping we have the right people in place to build this thing. We felt we had addressed almost all of those issues, we went int a little more depth, a little more detail maybe," Commissioner Judy Anderson said.
The 'Better Government' member we spoke with also suggested addressing the justice system as a whole.
In the written response, commissioners said they are open to programming to avoid incarceration.
