TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A potentially explosive situation in Terre Haute has ended peacefully.
It started around 10:00 Wednesday night when the police and fire department were called to a home near 13th and Locust Streets on reports of a potential explosion.
Terre Haute Police Chief Shawn Keen told News 10 while they were on the scene of that call, officers heard another explosion nearby.
That led police a few blocks away, near the 1500 block of 1st Avenue.
Police say they saw someone run inside of that home.
After a couple of hours, police were able to detain several people.
Police say detectives questioned those people, but no arrests were made.
After investigating, police believe fireworks were to blame for the explosions.
News 10 spoke with a witness near 13th and Locust.
"I heard a bomb, something blew up, something blew up. Because I heard the door blow up then there was powder flinging everywhere," Manuel, a witness said. "All the smoke was in the house and I heard I felt it on my skin and everything. It was like powder or meth..something like that. I said everyone get out of the house...everyone get out of the building."
No injuries were reported at either scene.
