TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Police in Terre Haute were called to the scene of a standoff at 8:30 PM on Monday night.
According to the Terre Haute Police Department, officers were called to the 1800 block of North 6th and a Half Street, at the Marylaine Apartments.
A witness told News 10 she heard gunshots in what she believed to be her neighbor's apartment. Officers received reports of a man pointing a gun at a woman. Police say the woman was able to escape, but the man refused to surrender for several hours.
Over a dozen police officers were on the scene, as well as several local residents.
Around 9:30 PM THPD officers began announcing the name "Donnie Orman" on their megaphones. They said, "Donnie Orman come out of the front door with your hands in the air.”
Around 9:45 PM - a man (witnesses say was Orman's son) came out of the apartment. Shortly after this, News 10 saw witnesses (including what is believed to be) Orman's son and grandson asking everyone on the scene to leave the area and “let the police do their jobs.”
Just before 11 PM, Orman came out of the house with his hands in the air and was handcuffed. THPD drove away with him in the vehicle around 11 PM.
