TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Tuesday afternoon incident at a Terre Haute motel has wrapped up peacefully.
It all started around 1:00 at Motel 6.
Motel employees told police they found "an item" in a room safe on Monday.
After giving it a second look on Tuesday, staff decided to contact the police.
When Terre Haute Police Officers arrived on the scene, they believed the items resembled some type of explosive device.
That is when Terre Haute Police contacted the Indiana State Police bomb squad.
After checking the device, state police determined it was firecrackers taped together.
Police say there was no need to detonate the device.
The incident remains under investigation.
