TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Some local veterans are doing what they can to give back to the community.

They call themselves the Loyal Vets Batallion.

They go to different hotels around the area.

While they are there, they collect items like soap, shampoo, and linens.

On Tuesday, we found them at hotels on Terre Haute's south side.

After they collect the items, they repurpose them to give to local soup kitchens, shelters, and veteran centers.

Their goal is to help area veterans while bringing a high profile to the cause.

"Our focus is on the homeless veterans, but anyone in need...that's what we're there for," Michael Egy, from the Loyal Veterans Batallion said.

The group also gives to the Ryves Center in Terre Haute.
