PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police reports a medical issue was the cause of an accident on Interstate 70 Friday morning.
The accident happened just before 10 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70 near the 34 mile-marker.
ISP reports a silver 2013 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 52-year-old from Farmersburg, left the road and struck the center median barrier cables.
After the vehicle hit the cables, the Impala struck a semi.
The driver of the Impala was taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil for treatment of a medical episode. ISP reports she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Indiana State Police reports a Trooper in the area had received reports of the Impala driving erratically and was attempting to locate it when they were notified of the crash.
