Paris, Ill. (WTHI) - In the Wabash Valley, you don't have to look far for a dose of holiday cheer.
Spirits were merry and bright in downtown Paris, Illinois on Saturday night.
The Christmas in Paris event was held all day Saturday.
It was a full day of holiday activities, including a tree lighting, parade, and a meet and greet with Santa Claus.
Organizers say the event is about restoring togetherness and being with each other for the holidays.
"We just don't gather in the same place to just enjoy the spirit, so we felt that this was an event that would bring that back to the downtown of Paris," said Trisha Vitale, chairman of Christmas in Paris event.
A lot of the events involved the kids in the community.
Organizers say it's about building that excitement for Christmas in Paris for generations to come.
