TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A new group is honoring female veterans in our community.

Project in Her Boots is a unique support group.

Veterans and current service members decorate combat boots and share their stories.

Chairperson Gwen Hicks stopped by our studio to show off pairs of boots.

She hopes this program shows the community the women's dedication to service.

"I hope they realize how many women are serving and have served our country and their commitment to that and the honor they have brought to the job," Hicks said.

You have a chance to see the boots and read their stories in person.

Boots will be at these locations in Terre Haute:

Baesler's Market
Vigo County Historical Society
VFW - 1111
Marine Corps League on North 16th Street
American Legion on Fort Harrison
Nancy's Downtown Mall
Terre Haute Savings Bank
Old National Bank on Wabash Avenue
First Financial Bank on Wabash Avenue
The Military Museum on Wabash Avenue
City Hall
Grand Traverse Pie Company
