Crews respond to transformer fire in Terre Haute

A fire caused multiple power outages in Terre Haute.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A fire caused multiple power outages in Terre Haute.

That's according to police.

Officials say crews arrived near the area of Lafayette and 8th Avenue to a transformer on fire. Officials say a couple of power lines also caught fire.

Officials say the fire caused several outages throughout Terre Haute, including the Twelve Points area and businesses like Menards. 

At this time, officials say it could take 45 minutes to an hour, or possibly 3-4 hours, for power to be restored.
