TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A family pet died in a Terre Haute house fire Sunday afternoon.
The fire happened in a house on Shields Avenue near 28th Street.
Neighbors say the home belongs to an elderly couple. They were not there when the fire started but their son was inside. He was able to get out. There were animals in the home and all but one were saved.
Neighbors say there is not a fire hydrant nearby so crews had to connect to a hydrant a few blocks away.
Investigators have not yet released what they believe is the cause of the fire.
