CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTHI) - Election officials say this was a good year for voter turnout in Clark County.

Many attribute the numbers to one race in particular.

That race was Clark County Sheriff.

The winner of the Republican primary for Clark County Sheriff is deputy Bill Brown.

He won with 65 percent of the vote over his opponent Deputy Derrick Sanders.

Brown says he has a good relationship with Sanders and will continue that in this new role.

Sanders declined an interview but says he will support Brown as sheriff and is grateful for his supporters.

I asked Brown about what the people of Clark County can expect from him.

"There's a lot of things we want to accomplish. We want to make sure the integrity of the office stays very strong. I've got some different programs I would like to try to enact. Obviously, budget issues come into play. We want to make sure it's affordable and so forth," Brown said.

There is not a Democratic challenger in this race right now but there is still time for someone to enter the race.

If not, Bill Brown will be the next Clark County Sheriff.
