VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Burning calories and smashing goals all while having fun!
That's what some ladies at the Vigo County YMCA are doing! They swimming, biking and running all to finish their first full triathlon.
We're talking 140.6 miles!
But, the Vigo County YMCA is giving participants four-weeks to finish their new program the Turkey Triathlon!
Ashley Bryan and Amy Barnett track their miles on a daily basis. Both are training with a team. Ashley is responsible for biking 112 miles while her team members complete the swim and run portion.
Amy also has a team but decided she wants to swim, bike, run the entire event herself.
Both Ashley and Amy have personal goals as to why they chose to take on the Turkey Triathlon and what they like about it!
"Yeah I really like that were able to do as a team whether you want to do one aspect or whether you want to split it up and everyone does a little bit of swimming, a little bit of biking or a little bit of running,” Ashley said. “So I like that a lot!"
"You know when you're a bigger person you don't realize all the impact it has on your joints and you know, health-wise, and it is an amazing feeling to be able to actually participate and run without huffing and puffing!" explained Amy.
The event started on Oct. 21 but organizers say you can always sign up for the Turkey Triathlon Challenge next year!
But there are other events coming up, that will get you sweating just in time for the holidays.
