TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - There's a new report out on a deadly plane crash in northern Terre Haute.
News 10 has been following this story since the crash happened in August of 2016. A plane crashed into a house near the Sky King Airport. Investigation documents state the plane hit a tree, flipped, and crashed through the roof of a nearby house.
Dr. John Trump died, and Dr. William Patrick O'Neill was seriously hurt. According to the investigation documents, Trump was considering buying the plane from O'Neill.
The National Transportation Safety Board recently posted its Factual Report. It gives a more complete picture of what the NTSB learned during its investigation. The report includes witness statements, weather reports, and Dr. O'Neill's account of what happened. The report states O'Neill flew to Edgar County, Illinois. On the flight back to Sky King Airport, O'Neill allowed Trump to test fly the plane. In a document, O'Neill said he told Trump the plane was too low and slow. He said to add power for altitude and lower the nose for speed. He said that's the last thing he remembers.
The report states Dr. Trump's cause of death was "attributed to an anoxic brain injury due to multiple blunt-force injuries."
The full report can be found here, through the NTSB database.
A final report is still expected.
