After sentenced to 120 years for murder, Johnus Orr awaiting decision on appeal

A Sullivan County man has been waiting for more than 10 months for a decision on his appeal.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A Sullivan County man has been waiting for more than 10 months for a decision on his appeal.

A jury convicted Johnus Orr of murdering his step-sister Tiffany Adams and her unborn son in 2014.

A judge sentenced him to 120 years in prison in 2016.

Even at sentencing Orr maintained his innocence. His attorney filed an argument for Orr's appeal back on Feb. 22 of 2017. The state responded the following month.

The court of appeals accepted the case in April.

A case manager told News 10 that they are simply waiting for an appeals court panel of judges to make a decision on the appeal.

There's no time line on when that could take place.

Orr is being held in the Miami County Correctional Facility.
