TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A driving force in education in Vigo County received a special award on Tuesday.

The Rotary Club of Terre Haute gave the 'Five Avenues of Service' award to Jane Nichols.

Nichols is the executive director of the Vigo County Education Foundation.

She has helped collect $249,000 in grants and other support for teachers.

She told us it is great to be on the receiving end of this.

"It is a different feel. I love what I do. I love advocating for public education. I love serving our community and rotary. This is just a neat honor," Nichols said.

The Five Avenues of Service are Community, Vocational, Youth Club, and International.

The club says Nichols represents all of these pillars.
