Everett Lau 2022

Everett Lau is the Weekend Morning Meteorologist and Multimedia Journalist for WTHI. He joined Storm Team 10 in July 2021.

Everett was born and raised in the Wabash Valley with Paris, Illinois, being his hometown. In fact, he grew up on L&A Family Farms – home of the sunflower maze!

Everett graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and minors in Broadcast Meteorology and Earth Science.

While at EIU, Everett was the lead forecaster at the university’s PBS-affiliated TV station, WEIU-TV, and anchored weather, news and even occasionally sports for the award-winning newscast, “News Watch.” He was also a producer, reporter and production assistant.

His work in college has been recognized by the Illinois Broadcasters Association with Student Silver Dome Awards for “Best TV Weather” and with Student Awards of Excellence from the Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Everett is also known as The Prairie Press “Weather Wizard,” a title he was given in 2014 when he started providing weekly forecasts and weather articles to Paris’s newspaper.

Everett is happy to call the Wabash Valley home and is thrilled to be a member of Storm Team 10 after growing up watching News 10 as a kid. He loves the variety of weather the region experiences but has always been most passionate about covering severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.

If he’s not busy forecasting or tracking storms (which he spends a lot of time doing), Everett enjoys exploring the outdoors and taking road trips – especially if the end result is ice cream.

If you have a weather-related story idea or question, know a cool state park or landmark for Everett to check out, or want to recommend a great place for ice cream, feel free to send him an email!
