Part-Time Production Services

WTHI-TV is seeking a person to work with a team of people to assist in the behind the scenes production of the News casts.

JOB SUMMARY:

Operate various equipment (audio, visual, graphics, lighting, digital) used for media production and/or transmission.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the director and studio staff to coordinate the action in the studio.
• Collaborate with set designers to determine the needs of the production.
• Builds and decorates the set and/or provides props used for production.
• Assist in the installation, operation and maintenance of sound recording equipment.
• Operate studio graphic systems during broadcast/production.
• Provide audio production-related support as needed, and may work with outside production facilities.
• Assist in digital media productions, liaising with appropriate departments.
• May convert analog recordings, film, or printed materials to digital format.
• Maintains and stores equipment, records and tapes.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must be able to interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production and engineering staff.
• Detail oriented.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Familiarity with processes and procedures of a television production department.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma. Experience in television, film, or post production preferred but not required.

Training/Equipment: N/A

Work Environment/Physical Requirements: High stress environment with deadline pressures. Some travel may be required on an occasional basis.

Local Sales Account Executive

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Includes the following (other duties may be assigned):

 

  • Expand local sales in the Terre Haute area by bringing new advertisers to the station, generating new leads, and selling digital advertising.
  • Develop client relationships, contact key accounts, handling clients at various stages in the sales cycle including account updates, weekly projections and forecast of future advertising.
  • Generate packages, negotiate advertising rates, create oral and written presentations and knowledge of comScore ratings is helpful.
  • Monitor accounts receivables of client base.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with buyers and clients.
  • Develop short and long range plans for revenue growth.
  • Research, analyze, and monitor competitive media for new leads.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis in Business/Marketing/Communications.
  • Sales related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the television, broadcasting and internet industries.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as commissions, proportions and percentages.
  • Excellent public relations skills. Computer proficient.  Ability to travel and work long hours.
  • Valid driver’s license and state mandated automobile insurance and an acceptable driving record are required.

JOB SUMMARY: The MMJ combines artistic talent, technical expertise, and composition skills to produce images that will provide a visual story on a given topic as assigned.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
* Shoots and edits news video stories, including daily news, special news, features, sports and live events.
* Takes direction from, and interact with, the assignment desk, producers, reporters, anchors and production control room personnel.
* Maintains and operates camera equipment as well as company vehicle safely and efficiently.

 Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Maintains positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments.
* Responds positively to feedback.
* Ability to edit raw video to newscast form in a manner to complete the story for the viewer.

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in broadcasting, journalism, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years video photography in a medium or major market TV News station preferred, but not required.

 

Training/Equipment: Operate live trucks and camera equipment.

 

Work Environment/Mental/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to operate computer and editing machine. High stress environment with deadline pressures. Travel will be required on a regular basis. Position requires the transport of equipment weighing up to 60 lbs. Position often requires work in extreme outdoor temperatures. System Administrator/Broadcast Engineer

WTHI-TV, a dominant #1, CBS affiliated station in Terre Haute, Indiana, is looking for a System Administrator / Broadcast Engineer. The individual will develop, integrate, and support key infrastructure solutions across all platforms of the station.

We are seeking a well-rounded, technical person to join our engineering staff. The complexity and diversity of our television station, in regards to our mixed IT broadcast environment, present endless opportunities to increase knowledge and apply problem solving skills. Technologies supported in this high availability 24/7 environment include: Windows operating systems, VMWare, Exchange, VOIP, Active Directory, Linux, Storage Area Network and several software applications such as Microsoft Office Applications, SharePoint, etc.

The purpose of this position is to provide full network support in design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our network infrastructure, production servers, business workstations and broadcast equipment. The candidate is responsible for ensuring network availability, and to meet service level and performance expectations of WTHI-TV.

 Responsibilities:

  • Provide system and network support for a Dell Server / user environment
  • Use of SNMP for baseline, trending and alerts
  • Troubleshoot system issues
  • Deploy and manage Microsoft base server operating systems, active directory and group policy
  • Deploy and manage Physical network, including: firewalls; routers; switches; wireless point to point; and wireless access points
  • Design, deploy and manage system backup and business continuity plans
  • Deploy and manage Microsoft based client operating systems
  • Deploy and manage Apple based client operating systems
  • Create and manage system documentation, including configurations and backup procedures
  • Manage patches, software updates and Windows Server Update Services
  • Participate in the definition and implementation of system components including new servers, hardware, software and upgrades
  • Manage VOIP telephone systems
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other team members
  • Handle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly
  • Insure network security and threat protection using SEP antivirus etc.
  • Video streaming management
  • Support for Sales and Traffic software

  • Automation / ingest server management
  • Other duties as assigned by management

 

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

  • Associates’ degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or a related field is preferred
  • 3+ years relevant systems analysis/support experience
  • 3+ experience directly administering and supporting Microsoft Windows Server
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange, Office applications and SharePoint
  • Working knowledge of VMWare, VOIP, Linux, and Storage Area Network
  • Understanding of industry best practices surrounding proper maintenance and support of a 24x7 server infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting
  • Physical capability to install/de-install server equipment in a data center environment
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical issues and offer solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic personality
  • Professional business demeanor
  • Customer-focused attitude and desire to interface directly with end-user clients
  • Experience with broadcast systems (non-linear editing systems, character generators, newsroom computer systems etc.) preferred
