TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - One woman and her unborn child have died due to injuries suffered in a serious accident. It happened in Terre Haute on U.S. Hwy 41 just after 5 p.m. on Saturday.
29 year old Erin Shook had to be airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Shook died Saturday night because of the severity of her injuries. She was 35 weeks pregnant.
Doctors performed an emergency C-section in hopes of saving the baby; however, they were unable to save the unborn child.
Shook's two other children who were in the vehicle were transported to Regional Hospital after the accident. The driver of another vehicle involved, Cody Griffin, 22, was also transported to Regional Hospital.
Their conditions are not known at this time.
These past couple of days have been chillers. Without heating assistance, life could be unbearable.
Lawrenceville, Illinois schools have been dealing with a potential threat. Lawrenceville police told school leaders, a former student made threats against the school.
UPDATE: The 2008 Jeep SUV was driven by Leann Martin, 56 of Brazil. Martin was traveling west on US Highway 40 when she left the road and struck a utility pole.
