VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Removing voting location restraints from voters may soon be coming to Vigo County.
They are called Voting Centers.
Here's how they work:
Instead of having a specific precinct to vote at, all registered voters would have their choice of where to vote across the county.
It's a concept Vigo County Commissioners are considering,saying it would be a benefit to all voters and could save taxpayers money in the long run.
"You would be able to vote anywhere you wanted at any of these voting places, 30 days ahead of election," Vigo County Commissioner Judith Anderson said.
At this point, the voting centers concept is just in the talking stages.
Tippecanoe, Cass and Wayne counties in Indiana have already implemented Voting Centers and consider them a success.
