VIGO CO., Ind. (WTHI) - Vigo County Surveyor Michael Sheehan passed away early Saturday morning.
Few details are known at this time, but we do know that Sheehan was found unresponsive in his home Saturday morning.
Sheehan began his work as county surveyor in 1998.
During his time, he revitalized several local programs, and even created new projects to help maintain the community.

It's unknown at this time as to what the county will do with the now vacant elected position.
Sheehan's visitation will be held on August 16 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church at the intersection of 7th and Vorhees streets.
A mass will be held on Friday, August 17 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Marry Church with a second visitation prior to mass from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
