TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Medical students in the Wabash Valley have a new place to get their training
The Rural Health Innovation Collaborative introduced their first medical simulation center Thursday at Union Hospital.
It will allow students from Indiana State and Ivy Tech to learn and train on computer simulation dummies that act and react just like real patients. They created simulation rooms for diagnostics, pediatric care, and even birthing.
"It's a terrific way for us to collaborate together, across the health care spectrum. I think it's exciting we've been able to get this going," Jack Jaeger the simulation center's director said.
ISU, Ivy Tech, and Union hospital came together to build the simulation training rooms in Union Hospitals old Intensive care unit.
