CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Three people are dead after a Sunday evening crash involving an off-road vehicle in Clay County.
Police say the driver of a 1996 Polaris Sportsman 500 ATV operated the vehicle in a reckless manner resulting in a crash on County Road 200 North near Center Point, Ind.
Two children, a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old, were killed on impact.
The driver, Andrea Allen, 22 of Indianapolis, was air-lifted to an Indianapolis hospital where she later died from injuries.
A third passenger, a 2-year-old, was also air-lifted to a hospital and is listed in stable condition at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis as of Monday morning.
A preliminary investigation indicates excessive speed and alcohol may be contributing factors.
The crash is being investigated by Indiana Conservation Officers with assistance of the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Indiana State Police, the Clay County Coroner's Office, and the Marion County Coroner's Office.
