Mayor Clint Lamb, of Sullivan says it's hard to provide jobs when businesses continue to leave and nothing new is coming in.
"For the past 15-years here in the city of Sullivan, Sullivan has migrated and it's gone out to the highway. The hospitals left downtown, Duke Energy left downtown. Back when Duke Energy was here, people all across the county came into the city to pay their electric bill and that's no longer downtown," said Lamb.
But Lamb says the city is slowly attempting to make a difference in the downtown area, hoping to bring new businesses by cleaning up the streets.
Lamb mentioned he hopes to extend the city limits by allowing the city to build on new land which he says in-turn allows new developing businesses to invest in the city and bring new jobs with it.
