TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Terre Haute Police Department was called to 312 N. 8th Street in Terre Haute Friday evening for a report of a shooting.
Officials report when they arrived on the scene they found a male on the porch with what appeared to be multiple gun shot wounds. The victim was later identified as 25-year-old Ryan J. Christian.
A witness at the scene identified John W. Johnson, 72, as a suspect. Officials were able to locate him at his residence in the 2300 block of 2nd Avenue.
Johnson freely turned himself over to police, stating that they needed to take him to jail.
Johnson was transported to the Vigo County Jail on a preliminary charge of Attempted Murder.
Christian was transported to an out of the area hospital for treatment. At this time his condition is not known.
Officials stated in a preliminary investigation that there is a family relationship between the two men.
