TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Terre Haute native is being recognized for his achievements.
The Parks Department will dedicate the Spencer Ball Park to legendary pitcher Tommy John.
The dedication will take place on October 24.
Parks Department officials say the public is invited to attend the dedication free of charge.
After the ceremony there will be a dinner featuring the legendary all star him self.
Proceeds from the dinner will go towards maintaining that field.
"It's a great opportunity, once in a lifetime. And we're also asking for people to come out free for the dedication. It doesn't cost anything. Local baseball teams will be out there as well,” Bruce Rosseli, Parks Director said.
The dedication takes place at 5:15 at the Spencer Ball Park.
