PARIS, Ill. (WTHI) - Health officials in Edgar County, Illinois are awaiting water test results after a water main broke on the north side of Paris.
On Thursday, officials in Paris issued a boil order because of the break .
They warn that bacteria can enter the water because of the breach, and they recommend boiling any tap water until tests show the water to be free of contaminants.
Public health authorities say that, until the order is lifted, residents should not drink, wash dishes, or wash hands with water that hasn't been boiled first.
Workers with the county health department said they expect to get water test results back Friday evening.
