ST. ANTHONY, Ind. (WTHI) - The Indiana State Police are investigating the drowning of a four-year-old boy in rural Dubois County.
At approximately 6:14 p.m. Friday night the Dubois County Communications Center received a 911 call that Kai Neukem, 4, of St. Anthony was missing in the area of 3080 South Santine Road, St. Anthony, IN.
Officers from the Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officers and the Dubois County Sheriff's Office all began to respond to the area, but a approximately 6:18 p.m., before officers could arrive, Kai was found in a nearby lake.
CPR was started and Kai was transported by Dubois County EMS to Jasper Memorial Hospital.
From there, he was flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.
According to the Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office, Kai passed away early Saturday morning at St. Mary's Medical Center. No autopsy will be conducted.
