GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A fight between live-in lovers explodes in gunfire and in the end, a 33-year-old man lay dead -- reportedly at the hands of his own girlfriend.
One look down Mineral Koleen Road in Greene County, Ind. and the word remote might come to mind.
The same way neighbors describe the chances of such a deadly squabble happening here.
"I heard a couple gunshots -- not unusual, in fact, that happens all the time down here," said one neighbor, Ken Robinson.
But something about a frantic 911 call from the woman who shares this mobile home with her boyfriend had responding deputies on heightened alert.
Greene County Sheriff, Terry Pierce says the 32-year-old Teena Foster can be heard confessing she'd shot her 33-year-old boyfriend, James Austin.
Austin was found dead on the floor face-up according to the sheriff.
Officials confirm Foster stood in the yard, hands stretched above her head until deputies had accounted for everyone
"I don't know what to think about it," said Robinson. "I mean, I have lived here all my life and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened around here."
Robinson says the couple pretty much kept to themselves until Monday evening, that is, when few people could ignore the domestic disturbance turned deadly.
