As the new school year draws closer, Covenant Cooperative Ministries in Terre Haute is launching its annual First Day Back to School program.
The program provides school supplies, as well as shoes and other items for needy students in the Vigo County School Corporation.
Applications for help through the program are due by Thursday, July 19, said executive director Rose Aycock. To apply, families must bring proof of income, the child's birth certificate and I-D, verification of enrolment in the school corporation and verification of state benefits.
Meanwhile, Aycock said the organization is also looking for people to make financial donations to the program, donate school supplies and backpacks, or register to sponsor a low-income student.
Covenant Cooperative is located at 122 S. 10 ½ Street in Terre Haute and can be reached by calling ( 812) 478-7700 .
