BLOOMFIELD, Ind. (WTHI) - A Wabash Valley school district will begin the week on lockdown following a bizarre story that started last week.
The strange scenario began last Thursday. An unidentified teenage male showed up at Bloomfield High School asking to come into the school to speak with a young girl.
He was turned away, but as a precaution officials locked down the school and alerted police. That was only the beginning of the story.
A day after Bloomfield police questioned the young man; a Clay County school administrator described an eerily similar story to the Bloomfield High School principal.
The Clay County schools sent a picture of the young man in question and sure enough it matched the man prowling around Bloomfield High on Thursday.
However, that young man was also questioned in a sexual assault case involving a Clay County minor.
Bloomfield schools again went on lockdown on Friday as police searched and ultimately found the young man Friday evening.
He has been sent back to Clay County where he is being held in juvenile detention; that's why his name is not being released.
But school administrators say they will go ahead with the precautionary lockdown.
"The lockdown will continue on Monday, anytime you have a situation like this there's always a possibility of a copy cat type event that might occur after the original event," Bloomfield Schools Superintendent Dan Sichting said.
The superintendent said they will re-evaluate the school's safety level on Monday.
