TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Vigo County's Area Planning Director is calling it quits.
At a Wednesday night meeting, Jeremy Weir told his co-commissioners he is leaving.
He says he's pursing a better opportunity.
Weir took over as director in 2005.
This comes after he found himself in between a zoning battle between Woodgate subdivision and Cobblestone Crossing developers.
We asked County Commissioner Judy Anderson about how he handled the situation.
"I was personally proud of Jeremy for standing up with his convictions and standing up for what was right, not always what was popular, but what was right," Anderson said.
Weir told the area planning commission the Woodgate/Cobblestone situation had no impact on his decision.
His last day on the job is May 24.
