TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Area 7 Agency received a grant Tuesday for $100,000.
Wal-Mart offered the award to the local group. This will be used to serve home-delivered meals.
This is great news after recent federal funding cuts left the organization creating a waiting list for the meals. Now, they'll be able to offer more meals to home-bound seniors this year.
"The support of these programs is essential that these people that need it get fed everyday,” said Vigo County Commissioner, Judith Anderson.
The money from the grant will be used for food for all area counties.
Anderson said the support of local people keeps the program alive as well and the need for the program continues to grow.
