TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Department of Justice website that gives information on Amber Alerts is back up and running after being shut down as late as Monday morning.
This was due to the federal government shutdown but it was restored after the Department of Justice took some heat from conservatives in congress.
News 10 spoke with Indiana State Police on the issue.
Sergeant Joe Watts stated Indiana's Amber Alert system has been fully operational and is not subject to the government shutdown.
"You can rest assured should your child come up missing that the Amber Alert system will work as it always has,” Watts said.
Watts also told News 10 the state's Silver Alert system is also not affected by the government shutdown.
