TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police patrolling the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza in Terre Haute arrested fewer people for drunken driving this year but more people overall.
Sgt. Joe Watts says troopers arrested 13 people for drunken driving at the event Friday and Saturday. That's down from 27 last year.
He says they made 47 criminal arrests were for miscellaneous drug and alcohol violations and persons wanted on warrants, compared with 23 a year ago.
Indiana State Excise Police say they arrested 254 people, including 105 for underage possession or consumption of alcohol. That was up from 148 total excise arrests last year.
The event draws thousands of diesel truck enthusiasts for truck and tractor pulls and related events.

UPDATE: Around 9 a.m. on Saturday, the Terre Haute Police Department responded to the Statesman Inn room 144 at 1407 N 3rd Street. Officers found Randall Norton Jr, 21, with multiple stab wounds to his back and abdomen.
Update: The Washington Police Department is looking to speak with a person of interest in an ongoing death investigation.
