DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Northern Illinois University is adding a new scoreboards and audio systems to its football stadium.
The DeKalb school announced Tuesday that it plans the improvements to start this spring and be ready for the Huskies' football season home opener against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 21.
The Huskie Stadium renovations will include an LED video display scoreboard measuring 15.5-feet high by 39.5-feet wide. That's nearly double the width of the current board that was installed in 2000. There also will be 100-foot-wide ribbon boards on the east and west sides of the stadium. Those boards will carry advertising and sponsor graphics, fan prompts and game updates.
NIU went to the Orange Bowl last season, losing 31-10 to Florida State.
