VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A Friday night stand-off leaves two people behind bars.
It happened in southern Vigo County at 11861 S. Sullivan Place.
Police say Brian O'Neal, 46, got into an argument with his son. O'Neal grabbed a shotgun and fired one shot into the ground, and another at his son.
The son escaped uninjured and alerted authorities.
When police arrived at the scene O'Neal threatened to hurt himself.
Vigo County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police surrounded the home.
O'Neal stepped out of the home, that's when police took the opportunity to detain him.
"What we are gathering at this time, our understanding is that he is former military. I don't know for certain what branch. However, we do know, based on reports from the son that there were weapons in the house. The officers did take that precautionary measure with the information we had at that time," said Sheriff Greg Ewing.
O'Neal faces charges of criminal recklessness with a firearm and pointing a firearm.
Also arrested at the scene was 45-year-old Michelle Houston on an outstanding OWI warrant.
No injuries were reported.
