ROBINSON, Ill. (WTHI) - A Robinson, Illinois high school custodian faces charges after authorities found a video camera inside a school locker room.
The Robinson Police Department told News 10 it's possible that students were captured on camera, Thursday, when a faculty member of Robinson High School found a video camera with recordings of a locker room from inside a custodial closet.
Officer Bryan Danks, with the Robinson Police Department says, "They could tell when they turned the camera on, that the images that were on the camera were taken in a locker room in the school so they shut it off and that's why they called us."
Friday morning police arrested Daniel Bonnell, 27, for unauthorized video taping. Bonnell was a custodian with the Robinson School District but has since been suspended.
"It's disturbing because it makes everybody now wonder every time they're in a locker room if they are being video taped. But we like to think this is an isolated incident and we caught the only one there is and it's taken care of," said Danks.
Sunday Superintendent Josh Quick, of the Robinson School District emailed parents informing them of the incident and what was found.
Local police did not watch the video but instead sent the tape off to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab to be reviewed.
Officer Danks says, "No on knows yet who are the actual victims on the tape, so as soon as we know that and the school knows that, then we'll notified of course those kids and their parents."
If anyone under the age of 18 is found on the video, Bonnell could face a higher felony charge.
Bonnell is being held at the Crawford County Jail.
